CORE MISSION

VERA is a Power for Tomorrow coalition. Dominion Energy (a Power for Tomorrow member) and its coalition partners founded VERA to support reliability projects.

OUR CORE MISSION

Virginia Energy Reliability Alliance's mission is to ensure our energy grid remains reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible. Balancing reliability and affordability with sustainability, we support high standards of environmental stewardship, economic development, and community well-being. By uniting stakeholders, communities, and decision-makers, we advocate for an energy strategy that builds a resilient energy future for all Virginians.

Virginia has enjoyed reliability, power and prosperity from affordable electricity.  Today, Virginia’s power demand is growing rapidly and will double in 15 years. While Virginia leads in offshore wind, solar, and batteries, renewables are not always available to meet peak demand.  Natural gas is crucial for providing reliable backup power during these times and can quickly prevent electric grid failures when demand spikes. A reliable grid, made possible by natural gas, is essential for supporting a thriving economy and provides the foundation for continued success.

VERA ENERGY PROJECTS

The Chesterfield Energy Reliability Center is a proposed natural gas power station that will generate 1,000 megawatts of new, reliable energy for Virginia homes and businesses during periods of high demand.
